The Albany Corridor Study Report
The Albany Corridor Study Report dated April 2005 is available for viewing at the libraries below. This report documents how the study was conducted; the forecast for structural, safety, capacity and operational needs within the corridor over the next 20 years; and the potential alternative solutions for the Thruway between Interchanges 21A and 25A. Traffic Technical Memorandums
Two Traffic Technical Memorandums regarding the Albany Corridor Study were prepared, Traffic Technical Memorandum 1 and Traffic Technical Memorandum 2. The memorandums are technical documents which summarize traffic data collection and traffic analyses completed for the Albany Corridor Study.
The first memorandum, dated April 2002, documents existing (2002) summer Saturday operations of the New York State Thruway interchanges within the Albany Corridor. Field observations were conducted and analyses of existing operations were completed to identify deficiencies at the interchange and quantify delay to Thruway patrons on Saturdays during the summer months. The following items are included in the memorandum: traffic volume counts, vehicle queue and delay data, vehicle service time data, and vehicle origin and destination data.
The second memorandum, dated October 2003, documents the existing and future operations of the New York State Thruway and the interchanges located within the Albany Corridor. The following items are included in the second memorandum: traffic volume counts, vehicle queue and delay data, vehicle origin and destination data, vehicle occupancy data, vehicle classification data, and traffic forecasts. The traffic forecasts were used to complete capacity analyses using Highway Capacity Software and the traffic modeling software called CORSIMTM. The data collected was also used to complete accident analyses and speed and delay analyses.
Copies of the Traffic Technical Memorandums and the Albany Corridor Study Reports are available for viewing at the local libraries below. Directions to each library are available on the Upper Hudson Valley Library System Web Site, www.uhls.org/uhls/members/library.cfm, or by phone.
