Is the Woodbury Toll Barrier being moved?
The Woodbury Toll Barrier is not being moved.  Upgrades to the existing toll barrier are being made to allow for the majority of travelers to more easily pass through the toll barrier using Highway Speed E-ZPass (65 mph).

How will the project be funded?
The project is being funded by the New York State Thruway Authority via toll revenue and the New York State Department of Transportation via Federal funds.

How long will the project take?
The project is slated for overall completion in the Summer of 2010.  For more information, please see the project schedule.

Is there an additional interchange included in this project?
No, there is no new interchange included in this project.  The project is intended to improve the Woodbury Toll Barrier’s operations and safety, provide operational improvements which will relieve congestion, reduce delays, and improve safety conditions at the Woodbury Toll Plaza.

Where can I find more information about Highway Speed E-ZPass?
For more information about Highway Speed E-ZPass, visit the Authority website under Projects & Studies (Project Design Elements, Highway) or under Highway Speed E-ZPass at Spring Valley.

Before the Highway Speed E-ZPass lanes are opened in the Spring of 2010, will the traffic pattern around the Woodbury Toll Plaza be impacted?
Before the Highway Speed E-ZPass lanes can be opened to traffic, the Authority will need to make significant changes to the existing Toll Plaza.  From March 8-May 2, 2010 (tentatively), five (5) lanes of the Woodbury toll plaza will be closed to traffic, demolished, and reconstructed with four (4) Highway Speed E-ZPass lanes.  During this eight-week period, three (3) lanes will be open northbound.  One of the northbound lanes will be a dedicated E-ZPass lane only; two of the northbound lanes will be established as mixed-mode lanes.  Meaning, the lanes will be able to accommodate both cash and/or E-ZPass depending on the time-of-day and traffic volumes.  During this same eight-week period, six (6) lanes will be open southbound.  The southbound lanes will accommodate dedicated E-ZPass, cash and mixed-mode customers.
