THRUWAY AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES CONSTRUCTION NEAR THE WOODBURY TOLL BARRIER
The New York State Thruway Authority announces that construction will be taking place near the Woodbury Toll Barrier beginning Monday, April 16. The primary purpose for this project is to implement Highway Speed E-ZPass, which will improve traffic operations at the Woodbury Toll Barrier. Additionally, traffic operations on the Thruway mainline and ramps of Interchange 16 (Harriman, Route 17, US 6) are expected to improve as a result of this project.
Beginning, Monday, the construction will consist of excavation on the shoulder for fiber relocation and preparation work for ramp widening, including drainage installation. The work will necessitate a single lane closure, northbound and southbound, from two miles south of Interchange 16 to the Woodbury Toll Barrier. One lane will be closed northbound, Monday, April 16 through Thursday, April 19, from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m., and on Friday, April 20 from 7 a.m. until noon. One lane will be closed southbound, Monday, April 16 through Friday, April 20 from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., weather permitting.
Highway Speed E-ZPass at the Woodbury Toll Barrier will eventually serve as the standard for other areas scheduled to obtain Highway Speed E-ZPass along the Thruway System such as Yonkers and Williamsville, in Western New York.
The Authority has activated its Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) to advise motorists of the work being conducted as part of this project.
The Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding while these necessary repairs take place.
