PROJECT INFORMATION/UPDATE: HIGHWAY SPEED E-ZPASS

Highway Speed E-ZPass is an initiative the Authority is considering to help improve operations at the Williamsville Toll Barrier.

The existing Williamsville Toll Barrier is affected by increased regional traffic demands. The following factors impact the operational efficiency of the current Barrier:

• Traffic congestion within the regional highway network, including I-90 and I-290;
• Operational concerns such as the safety of employees moving between the parking areas and toll booths; and
• Traffic delays resulting in heavy congestion at the Barrier, the junction of I-90 with I-290, and regional arterial and local roads. These traffic delays directly result in increased regional vehicle emissions and regional energy use.

Highway Speed E-ZPass is under consideration to solve these current operational problems at the Williamsville Toll barrier.
