Thruway Authority Announces Interchange 17 Reconstruction Project to Necessitate New Traffic Configuration on I-84 Eastbound
Exit 7N Ramp to Permanently Close to Traffic
The New York State Thruway Authority today announced ramp work along I-84 eastbound at Exit 7B (NYS Route 300) will be completed and open to traffic on Monday August 17, 2009, weather permitting. This work is being conducted as part of the Interchange 17 Reconstruction Project.
Once completed, motorists traveling eastbound on I-84 will have access to NYS Route 300 north and south from Exit 7B. The new intersection will be controlled by a signal; traffic will have the option to make a right turn onto NYS Route 300 south or make a left turn onto NYS Route 300 north.
Effective Monday, August 17, the ramp from I-84 eastbound to NYS Route 300 north, currently known as Ramp 7N, will be permanently closed to traffic.
As with any new traffic pattern, motorists are strongly encouraged to take notice of new signage and all other traffic control devices. The Authority will activate Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) in advance of the new traffic configurations to advise motorists of the closures and traffic stoppages.
Motorists are encouraged to tune to Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 1610 AM for updates. As always, motorists are reminded to drive with caution and remain alert as they become familiar with these new traffic patterns.
The work is being completed by A. Servidone/B. Anthony Construction Corporation of Castleton, New York and is scheduled to be completed by December 2009.
The Authority appreciates motorists’ patience while this essential project moves forward.
