THRUWAY AUTHORITY SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT ON PROPOSED THRUWAY RECONSTRUCTION AND MOBILITY IMPROVEMENTS BETWEEN INTERCHANGES 23 AND 24
Public Invited to Comment at February 15, 2005 Public Meeting

The New York State Thruway Authority has been conducting a study of the Albany Corridor, between Interchanges 21A (Berkshire Connector) and 25A (Schenectady, I-88) in Albany and Schenectady Counties. The proposed Thruway Reconstruction and Mobility Improvement Project between Interchanges 23 and 24 is the first project to stem from the Albany Corridor Study. In accordance with the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA), the Authority is seeking public opinion at an open meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, February 15, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Saint Sophia’s Church in Albany.

Authority representatives will give a formal presentation at 7:00 p.m. to outline the proposed reconstruction and mobility improvement project. The proposed project will assess capacity improvement alternatives such as additional travel lanes between these Albany interchanges, but will not include any modifications to the existing toll plazas or traffic patterns at interchanges 23 and 24, the study of which are ongoing. Authority representatives will be on hand for the duration of the meeting and be available for informal discussions as well.
