Environmental Stewardship

The Thruway Authority and Canal Corporation (Authority/Corporation) recognizes and promotes environmental stewardship as one of its core business objectives. The Authority/Corporation is committed to managing projects, activities and assets in such a manner so as to preserve and enhance our natural and cultural resources. All Authority/Corporation activities are undertaken in accordance with all applicable environmental laws, rules and regulations, as well as current Authority/Corporation policies relating to the environment.

The Authority/Corporation is committed to protecting, improving and enhancing environmental conditions and the quality of life for all New Yorkers; educating and promoting positive attitudes, ethics and behaviors related to New York's natural and cultural environment; managing environmental resources and values through partnerships with public and private entities; and, making decisions that consider the needs of the organization while understanding the consequences to the environment.
