Thruway Authority Announces I-90 Temporarily Closed in Both Directions from Interchange 46 to the Pennsylvania State Lane
133-Mile Section of the Thruway Closed due to Inclement Weather
The New York State Thruway Authority has announced that the Thruway (I-90) has been temporarily closed in both directions from Interchange 46 (Rochester, I-390, Corning) the Pennsylvania State Line due to inclement weather.
At this time, westbound motorists must exit the Thruway at Interchange 45 (Rochester, Victor, I-490). In Pennsylvania, eastbound motorists will be directed not to enter the Thruway System.
Motorists familiar with this area are encouraged to avoid this section of the highway until the inclement weather has subsided and to seek alternate routes if travel is necessary.
This 133-mile section of the Thruway System will be reopened as soon as conditions safely permit.
The Authority has activated its Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) as well as issued a TRANSalert to subscribers to notify motorists of the closure.
The Authority offers a free email service called TRANSalert to its customers via email or text messaging to inform them of major unscheduled incidents that may affect their travel on the Thruway. To sign up for the TRANSalert service, customers can visit the Authority's website at www.nysthruway.gov/tas/.
