Thruway Authority Announces Numerous Accidents Between Interchange 29 (Canajoharie) and 45 (Victor)
Heavy Traffic Volume Thruway-wide
The New York State Thruway Authority has announced that heavy traffic volumes exist Thruway-wide and that numerous accidents in both directions between Interchange 29 (Canajoharie) and Interchange 45 (Victor) due to inclement weather are causing delays.
A six-vehicle accident that occurred earlier this afternoon at milepost 346.9 westbound has resulted in a 10-mile backup. The accident has been cleared, but the backup will take some time to clear due to heavy traffic volume.
The Authority has activated Dynamic Message Boards, Highway Advisory Radio and issued a TRANSalert to subscribers to notify them of the incidents and resulting delays. Motorists, particularly those traveling westbound west of Syracuse, may want to consider alternate routes.
The Authority appreciates motorists' patience during this time.
