Thruway Authority Announces Fuel Service Renovations to Begin at Port Byron Travel Plaza
Restaurant and Restrooms Remain Available At Travel Plaza

The New York State Thruway announced that as part of a fuel service renovation project that will occur at all travel plazas operated by Lehigh Gas Corporation under the Mobil brand, the Port Byron Travel Plaza, located on I-90 eastbound between Interchanges 41 (Waterloo) and 40 (Weedsport), at milepost 310, is scheduled to begin fuel renovations on Monday, November 17, 2008. It is anticipated that this renovation project will last approximately 3 weeks, and therefore no fuel will be available at the Port Byron Travel Plaza during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Lehigh’s development plan for the fuel renovations at all travel plazas is phased over a two year period and is scheduled to be completed during 2009. The renovation projects include, but are not limited to refurbished fueling islands, canopy renovations and new kiosks.

Prior to the Port Byron Travel Plaza signs will be posted along the Thruway alerting motorists to plazas where fuel is available so they can stop for fuel before reaching the plaza under going renovations.

During the renovation project, restroom and food services will continue to be available to motorists 24 hours a day at the travel plazas.

For the duration of the fuel renovation project at the Port Bryon Travel Plaza, motorists in need of fuel services are advised to stop at the Clifton Springs Travel Plaza, located approximately 27 miles prior to the Port Byron Travel Plaza, between Interchanges 43 (Manchester) and 42 (Geneva), milepost 337 or the Dewitt Travel Plaza, located approximately 30 miles east of the Port Bryon Travel Plaza, between Interchanges 36 (Syracuse, I-81) and 35 (Syracuse East), at milepost 280.

Additionally, renovations for the New Baltimore (southbound), Iroquois and Seneca Travel Plazas are scheduled to begin in the Spring 2009. Information regarding the start dates for these and the other travel plazas operated by Lehigh will be made available as soon as the dates have been finalized.

Motorists are also reminded that as part of a major fuel service renovation project that will occur at all travel plazas operated by Sunoco, Inc. (R&M), announced by the Authority in a press release issued on September 18, 2008, the following travel plazas which are currently under going renovations will also be without fuel during the Thanksgiving holiday: Plattekill Travel Plaza, located on I-87 northbound between Interchanges 17 (Newburgh I-84) and 18 (New Paltz), at milepost 65; and Modena Travel Plaza, located on I-87 southbound between Interchanges 18 (New Paltz) and 17 (Newburgh I-84), at milepost 66.

Prior to the Plattekill and Modena Travel Plazas signs will be posted along the Thruway alerting motorists to plazas where fuel is available so they can stop for fuel before reaching the plaza under going renovations.

For the duration of the fuel renovation project at the Plattekill Travel Plaza, northbound motorists in need of fuel services are advised to stop at the Sloatsburg Travel Plaza, located approximately miles 32 prior to the Plattekill Travel Plaza, 15A (Suffern Rt. 17N) and 16 (Woodbury Toll Barrier), at milepost 33or the Malden Travel Plaza, located approximately 38 miles north of the Plattekill Travel Plaza, between Interchanges 20 (Saugerties) and 21 (Catskill), at milepost 103.
