Thruway Authority Announces Limited Parking at Sloatsburg Travel Plaza

The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that there will be limited garage parking at the Sloatsburg Travel Plaza, located on I-87 northbound between Interchanges 15A (Suffern Rt. 17N) and 16 (Woodbury Toll Barrier), milepost 33, on Tuesday, April 22, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. due to a striping and sign replacement project.

While the striping work is taking place, portions of the parking garage will be closed to traffic. However, vehicles will still be able to access parking in portions of the garage where work is not occurring.

The southerly access driveway to the garage will also be modified from a two-way entry into the garage to a one-way entry into the garage to improve traffic circulation. The northerly access driveway will continue to accommodate both entry and exit traffic to and from the garage. New signs and pavement markings will be installed to advise motorists of the new traffic patterns.

Motorists are encouraged to approach the garage with caution while the project is underway.

The Authority will activate Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 530 AM to advise motorists of limited parking in the Sloatsburg Travel Plaza parking garage.

Additionally, motorists are reminded that the Sloatsburg Travel Plaza Sloatsburg Travel Plaza is currently undergoing a fuel station renovation and therefore no fuel is available at that location.

Northbound motorists in need of fuel services are advised that the next available travel plaza is the Plattekill Travel Plaza, located approximately 32 miles north of the Sloatsburg Travel Plaza, between Interchanges 17 (Newburgh I-84) and 18 (New Paltz), at milepost 65.

For additional information on the Sunoco fuel renovation project, please visit the following release on the Authority’s website: www.nysthruway.gov/news/pressrel/2008/03/2008-03-07-sunoco.html.

The Authority appreciates motorists’ patience while these projects take place.
