Thruway Authority Announces Repaving Project to Resume Northbound Between the Woodbury Toll Plaza and Interchange 17
Project Will Necessitate Overnight Lane Closures

The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that a repaving project northbound between the Woodbury Toll Plaza and Interchange 17 (Newburgh, I-84, Route 17K, Stewart Airport) will resume on Wednesday, April 16 and will necessitate overnight lane closures.

Tilcon New York, Inc. Crews will be performing joint work and repaving that will necessitate overnight lane closures. A right lane closure will be in place, northbound, for two miles, beginning four miles north of the Woodbury Toll Barrier on Wednesday, April 16 at 7 p.m. and will continue until 5 a.m. on Thursday, April 17. The northbound left lane will be closed in the same area on Thursday, April 17 beginning at 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Friday, April 18.

On Friday, April 18 the right lane will be closed for two miles beginning six miles north of the Woodbury Toll Barrier and will be in place from 9 p.m. until 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 19.

The Authority has activated Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 530 AM in the Tappan Zee Corridor and 1610 AM in the Newburgh area to advise motorists of the lane closures.

The overall project will consist of full depth pavement repairs, asphalt overlay and milling from one mile north of the Woodbury Toll Barrier to Interchange 17 (Newburgh, I-84, Route 17K, Stewart Airport).

The $11.5 million contract was awarded to Tilcon New York, Inc. of West Nyack, New York. The project is expected to be completed in August 2008.

The Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding while this essential work takes place.
