Thruway Authority Announces Temporary Ramp Closure from I-84 Eastbound to Route 300 Southbound
The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that the exit ramp at Exit 7S (Union Avenue, Route 300, I-87) from I-84 eastbound to Route 300 southbound will be closed temporarily on Friday, December 14 from 9:30 a.m. until noon and on Monday, December 17 through Thursday, December 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on each of these days. The closure is necessary to allow for the continuation of steel installation as part of the I-84/I-87 Interchange 17 reconstruction project.
During the temporary closure, traffic will be detoured to Exit 7N (Union Avenue, Route 300, I-87) just to the east, in order to access Route 300 southbound during those hours.
Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 1610 AM and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) will be activated to inform motorists of the closure and detour. Motorists are urged to approach the work zone with caution and to follow the detour signs posted along the roadway.
This closure and detour is necessary to sustain the timely completion of the $66.7 million I-84/I-87 Interchange 17 reconstruction project. The work is being completed by A. Servidone/B. Anthony Construction Corporation of Castleton, New York and is scheduled to be completed by November 2009.
The Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding as this essential reconstruction project continues. For updated traveler information and traffic conditions visit www.nysthruway.gov or www.travelinfony.com.
