Thruway Authority Announces Detour from NY Route 300 to I-84 Westbound

The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that a detour from NY Route 300 to I-84 westbound will be put in place Wednesday, November 28, 2007, weather permitting.

In accordance with the staging plans of the I-84/I-87 Interchange 17 Reconstruction Project, A. Servidone/B. Anthony Construction Corporation will be permanently closing the existing NY State Route 300 southbound ramp to I-84 westbound and realigning traffic. Southbound Route 300 traffic with the intent to enter I-84 westbound should now remain in the left lane of NY Route 300 and utilize the dedicated left turn lane. When the signal allows for a left turn, traffic will proceed onto a newly constructed ramp and will merge with traffic onto I-84 westbound. Northbound traffic on NY Route 300 will be controlled by the new signal as well.

This detour route will be in place until the new exit is operational which is scheduled to be in 2009.

Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) 1610 AM and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) located on Route 300 will be activated to inform motorists of the detour.

This detour is necessary to sustain the timely completion of the $66.7 million dollar I-84/I-87 Interchange 17 reconstruction project. The work is being completed by A. Servidone/B. Anthony Construction Corporation of Castleton, New York and is scheduled to be completed by November 2009.

The Authority appreciates motorists’ patience and understanding as this essential reconstruction project continues. For updated traveler information and traffic conditions visit www.nysthruway.gov or www.travelinfony.com.
