THRUWAY AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES TIM HORTON’S AVAILABLE TO MOTORISTS AT PEMBROKE TRAVEL PLAZA BEGINNING SUNDAY
First Tim Horton’s Location To Open Sunday, December 17

The New York State Thruway Authority has announced that Tim Horton’s will open at the Pembroke Travel Plaza on Sunday, December 17. Tim Horton’s will be the first food concept available to Thruway motorists, as a result of a transition between concessionaires at select Thruway Travel Plaza locations.

“The Authority is pleased to announce that Tim Horton’s will open this weekend at the Pembroke Travel Plaza as the Authority continues to aggressively reopen food concepts at the Seneca, Scottsville, Pembroke and Clarence Travel Plazas during this transition period,” said Thruway Authority Executive Director Michael R. Fleischer. “Motorists are encouraged to take frequent safety breaks while traveling and visit the Thruway’s 27 Travel Plazas, some of which will soon offer new food concepts.”

The Pembroke Travel Plaza is located eastbound approximately four miles east of Interchange 48A (Pembroke/Medina).

Since the end of September, the Pembroke, Seneca, Scottsville, and Clarence Travel Plazas have been offering limited services as a result of a transition between concessionaires. However, during the transition period, vending services have been available to Thruway motorists at all four locations.

Delaware North Travel and Hospitality Services (Delaware North) is replacing HMSHost Corporation as the operator of these four Travel Plazas. Delaware North will be incorporating many new food concepts at these locations including Tim Horton’s, Arby’s, Fuddrucker’s, Villa Pizza and Banana’s; the new concepts at these locations are expected to be available by the end of January 2007.

For a complete listing of food concepts and amenities at all 27 Thruway Travel Plazas, motorists are encourage to visit the following link to the Authority’s website at: http://www.nysthruway.gov/travelplazas/index.html

As the transition period continues, motorists traveling westbound on the Thruway (I-90) in western New York are encouraged to stop at the Junius Ponds Travel Plaza, located between Interchange 42 (Geneva) and Interchange 41 (Waterloo), or the Ontario Travel Plaza, located just after Interchange 47 (Rochester/Leroy) for restaurant services.

The Authority has activated its Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) where available to inform motorists of the limited services available at the Travel Plazas under renovation and construction.

The Authority apologizes for any inconvenience this transition period may cause motorists.  The conversion is being completed as quickly as possible in order to minimize inconveniences to Thruway customers.
