THRUWAY AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES I-190 NORTHBOUND TRAFFIC PATTERN CHANGE AT FORMER OGDEN STREET (CITY LINE) TOLL BARRIER

The New York State Thruway Authority has announced that maintenance staff will change the traffic pattern at the former Ogden Street (City Line) Toll Barrier northbound on I-190 beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, to provide safer and easier travel and improve snow and ice removal efforts.

Work will take place around the clock beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6 through noon on Friday, December 8, weather permitting. No traffic delays are anticipated.

To complete this work, the Authority will close the three left-most lanes (northbound) on I-190 at the Ogden Street Toll Barrier. Throughout the duration of the project, motorists are advised to use the five right-most lanes (northbound) at the Ogden Toll Barrier.

The Authority will perform signage changes and also re-install guide rail to the right lanes. The changed lanes to the left side of the Ogden Toll Barrier will have a 20 mile per hour speed limit.

The former Ogden Street Toll Barrier is adjacent to Interchange 53 (Buffalo, Downtown, I-190) along I-90. The traffic pattern realignment is being performed independent of the Authority's plan to remove the toll booths early this spring under a competitive bid process.

The Authority will activate Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) to alert motorists of the lane changes.

The Authority appreciates motorists' patience during this time.
