- As you slowly pass through the toll
lane, your E-ZPass tag is read.
- Instantly, the tag is read by an antenna
and the proper toll is deducted from
your prepaid E-ZPass account.
- At some facilities, there are gates
that will go up when a valid tag is read.
- A video enforcement system is in place
to identify violators.
- A traffic signal and message is immediately
displayed to you just beyond the toll
booth. Please refer to “What To Expect As You Enter An E-ZPass Lane” for
information on various messages you
might see.
To avoid delay, always have your tag installed
properly by affixing it to the inside front
windshield with the adhesive mounting strips
provided with your tag(s). Some vehicles require an exterior, license-plate mounted tag. If incorrectly installed, the
signal from your tag may not be read properly and
you may be subject to administrative fees
up to $25.
