Commercial Exterior Roof Mounted Transponder Mounting Guidelines

For proper operation, make sure the transponder is mounted as follows:

  • Picture of Truck with transponder on it. Mount Transponder on Centerline of vehicle, 3 inches minimum from front of cab roof. 

  • A plastic or fiberglass air dam or spoiler may cover the transponder provided that the cover does not have any metallic paint or metal foil decals on it. (Fig. 2)

    Do NOT mount the transponder:
    • Within 2 feet of any radio transmitting antennas
    • On sloping surface of cab or roof. Bottom of transponder assemble must always be parallel to the road.
    • Behind horns, light or other metal object 
    • Within 1 foot of any trailers, or other metal objects.
