We anticipate filling several vacancies on the Tappan Zee Bridge in our New York Division.

Duties

You would patrol the Tappan Zee Bridge (TZB), assisting motorists, removing disabled vehicles and providing a visible official presence. You will also perform minor maintenance and repairs to emergency service equipment and patrol vehicles, assist bridge maintenance forces with traffic control, repair work and snow and ice removal, and provide emergency services information during emergencies or unusual conditions until relieved by State Police. You would also monitor the caisson dewatering system, aviation lights, navigation lights and the deck lights to help protect the structure from damage by plane or boat. You may serve as a Bridge Patrol Crew Leader.

Qualifications

1. Possession of a Commercial Driver’s License-B with the “S” endorsement, valid at the time of the appointment.
   
2. One year of satisfactory full-time experience working as an automobile mechanic performing minor repairs, lubrication and general service work including the operation of towing equipment.

Salary ranges from $12.81 to $18.49 per hour plus night shift differential and location pay.
